You are children of Hashem your G-d (D’varim 14:1)
There are many deep paradoxes in Judaism and in our service of Hashem; and often we must hold simultaneously to both sides of the rope, so to speak.
One such paradox can be summarized in the analogy that we are considered as “Children of the King”.
On the one hand I am the son of the King, thus my importance is awesome. Everything that I do moves the entire universe and all is dependent upon me. I cannot regard myself as unimportant even for a moment.
On the other hand I am only important because of King. If I don’t remain firmly in awareness that everything is only from Him and because of Him and for His sake and honor alone, then I am certainly not worthy of the title: Son of the King; otherwise, I am only a disgrace.
